We offer a full continuum of care to treat our client’s mind, body, and soul. With several levels of care offered at Waypoint, we help clients begin recovery with a solid plan.
Upon entering Waypoint Recovery Center, each client undergoes a medical exam that provides a detailed look at the person’s usage history. In some cases, detox will be recommended before entering the main recovery program as a way to help rid the body of toxic substances. Clients then enter our rehab in Cameron and continue to outpatient treatment.
Medical Detox
At Waypoint Recovery Center, we provide personalized, medically assisted detox in Cameron, S.C., for alcohol, opiates (like oxycodone, hydrocodone, and fentanyl among others), and benzodiazepines (often called “benzos” and including alprazolam/Xanax, clonazepam/Klonopin, and diazepam/Valium).
The length of detox depends upon a number of factors, such as length of usage, most recent use, and what type of substance is used, with most clients spending 10 days in detox. This is followed by residential treatment, family services, and outpatient therapies.
Our dedicated, caring, and compassionate nursing staff and recovery team provide supervision 24 hours a day, seven days a week for clients to ensure a safe and comfortable recovery experience.
Residential Treatment
Waypoint’s residential treatment in Cameron, South Carolina, is located on a peaceful, scenic environment that’s ideal for helping clients address substance use disorder and its underlying issues.
Our multi-disciplinary treatment team is composed of professionals highly experienced in addiction medicine and individuals in active recovery who can provide peer support. Clients also have access to medical and nursing staff all day, every day.
Before completion of the program, we help our clients plan follow-up care with our Intensive Outpatient Program in N. Charleston, Columbia, or with their own local resources

What should I bring to residential treatment?
Be sure to bring seven days’ worth of comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing that complies with the dress code.
This should include:
- Shoes, including everyday shoes, tennis shoes for activities, and flip-flops for the shower only
- Shirts
- Pants
- Shorts
- Socks
- Undergarments
- Pajamas
- Coat or jacket
- Bath robe
- Belt
- Hat
- Slippers
- A list of names, addresses, and phone numbers of those you wish to have involved in your treatment, including loved ones, healthcare professionals, 12-step sponsors, and others.
- Jewelry that you wear every day and consider a necessity, such as your wedding ring or a watch. Otherwise, leave valuable items at home. The facility is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
- An alarm clock, if desired.
- A 30-day supply of your current prescription medications in the original pharmacy bottles with the information labels intact. Any liquid medications must be new and sealed. You should also bring a list of all medications and dosages. Do not bring over-the-counter medications.
- A small amount of cash, approximately $50, in smaller bills for outings.
- A credit card or debit card to pay for medications received during treatment.
- Your insurance cards and a form of identification, such as a driver’s license or passport.
- A notebook or journal, although one will also be provided.
- Stamps and envelopes, if you wish to mail letters.
- Pictures of your loved ones to keep in your room.
- Books that are recovery-oriented, self-help, or spiritually oriented are preferred. Reading material that is highly sexualized, violent, or graphic, including depictions of drug use, is not allowed.
- A 30-day supply of your preferred tobacco product, if applicable. We are unable to obtain tobacco products for you while you are in treatment.
- A reusable cup of your choice, such as a Tervis or Yeti-style cup. This is recommended but not required.
- A 30-day supply of contact lenses and related supplies, or your glasses, as needed.
Bring a 30-day supply of toiletries and beauty products, including:
- Deodorant
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Shampoo and conditioner
- Hair styling products, with pump hair spray only
